In the past, the Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) focused on crash tests. Now – crash avoidance. David Aylor, Manager of Active Safety Testing for the IIHS, was quoted in this CBS 19 article saying “When we look at police-reported crashes, we’re seeing a 50-percent reduction in front-to-rear crashes”. That is significant to say the least. This article is a very quick read and highlights some of the features that are making this difference. Avoiding injury and death is the primary benefit and when paired with reduced auto insurance rates – these crash avoidance features may be well worth the investment.
